It's Wednesday - 'Hump' day as it's known over here and I have discovered the most fantastically kooky Israeli shoe designer called Kobi Levi - Take a look at these hilarious, but also highly wearable designs... I particularly like the mallard duck....

As Levi says:

....I couldn't agree more! I love it when the lines between art-forms are blurred....

How great is this artwork by 'Typoe' entitled 'Confetti Death' ? The skull is vomtting a colourful explosion of spray can lids. Nice.

A lot of Typoe's work is straight graffiti style so this is a fantastic play on the idea of 'Graffiti'...He uses the tools of his trade in a really creative, genius and bloody beautiful way. I am a fan. Totally adore this.

On a different note - Today I moved out of my house - Since I've been in Sydney I stayed in Central for a month, then Paddington for a month and now I'm off to Neutral Bay for another month. Although I'm looking forward to this next move - I'm also looking for a more permanent residence! It's exhausting to constantly pack/unpack....(Baring in mind I've spent 6 months living out of a backpack - I can't bloody wait to properly settle!!)

Looking forward to OTB though (Over the Bridge - Thanks Dave) as he really saved me from a total pickle!! So pack-pack-packing....Ready to move....

...This time by designer AAamaya Priyanka - How gorgeous is this - A beautiful gold ring with a turquoise stone. How LOVELY how VERSATILE how BLOODY DELICIOUS! I will be the 'Ring Lady' with about 10 on each finger, stumbling along dripping in gold... Better than being a cat lady though right?!

I also want to share with you a design I'm working on at the moment... Still in it's infancy, so it probably will change a lot and look nothing like this by the time I've finished - but I rather like the mish-mash of colours so far, so thought I'd share....

Today's personal training session was RIDICULOUS...I am falling asleep at my desk. A hectic Monday combined with an hour fierce work out is not a good combination! Think of the bikini body Rosie....

I only realised last night I can catch up with the Apprentice over here on Youtube...It's one of my favourite trashy English shows and unfortunately Sydney's not caught onto this yet - So I've been furiously catching up. Amazing.

Unfortunately thanks to my disgusting Facebook habit and numerous friends posting the identity of the winner - the end is some-what spoilt for me...ah well, nonetheless it's still VERY enjoyable.

I would NEVER go on the Apprentice. As compulsive and delicious as it is - I do believe most of them are total twits....but who gives. It makes great TV.

I need to add some more colour in my wardrobe....If you'd look at this blog you'd assume I was dressed in neon brights and day-glow attire.... I love colour! I do. In my artwork I roll with the idea that the more colour the better - the brighter, the sillier, the more clashing...etc. In decorating I follow this same principle (I used to have a purple and lime green bedroom!) Unfortunately my wardrobe is severely lacking colour- I adore monochrome. I love black - I love white, I love grey - accessorized with mountains of gold....I might even let the odd stripe/navy into my wardrobe...I've been toying with the idea of a bit of raspberry, but on the whole in the words of Sam Sparro - I'm predominantly 'Black and Gold'

Hello!! Again it's been FOREVER since I've written a blog so impossible to write everything I've been up to....But I'll give a quick overview, as much as I can.... So, I arrived in Australia on the 12th March. It's now the 10th May so I've pretty much been here for 2 months!! Crazy-ness..... Where have I been? What have I been doing?!!

As my previous blog suggests I spent 2 Weeks in Melbourne area before heading up to Sydney. Spent almost 2 weeks between Sydney and the Blue Mountains where the boyo's living. It was amazing to be living in his little house and having home comforts everyday and great to see him- God I definately didn't miss being in a dorm!! Whilst there I saw lots of Sydney sights including quite a cool experience at the Sydney Opera house: Steve's Great Uncles (I think?!) was Musical Director there years ago, and Steve had been told through family stories that there was a plaque for him in the Green Room backstage. We weren't sure if this was urban family legend, or in fact true, so after talking to the Security guards/Tour guides/Management...etc....etc we finally wangled a backstage tour of the Opera house to see this supposed plaque. And low behold eventually we found it at the bar (!!!) in the Green Room.... Very cool - And Steve was very touched to see it!!

After two lovely weeks with Steve, I headed to visit some fellow Apps relatives in a place called Cooma in the Snowy Mountains. I had only intended to stay a night or two but had such a lovely time I ended up staying 10 days!! (Michael and Elizabeth - Thank-You SO much for having me!!) I'm not 100% sure of the relation, but it's something like my Grandad's cousin's son's brother's sister's gardener's hairdresser?? (Joke!) But anyway, I couldn't quite work it out, but my Grandad (when he was alive) had told me he'd love for me to visit them - so it felt like a trip I couldn't quite miss.

I'm SO glad I went - Michael and Elizabeth were the COOLEST APPS'!! (No offence Mum/Dad/Chris....haha) They ran a Flying School, owned an Air-field, an Alpaca farm, had sheep,cows and cats and Liz had a show on a local radio station!! How cool?!! How they found all the hours in the day I'll never know!! I had the most fantastic time. They live in the most beautiful house, in the most beautiful area. Several mornings I'd get up to go on an early morning walk - to be met by families of kangaroos outside the house bouncing past!! (They couldn't quite understand my absolute excitement 'KANGAROOOOS!!! BLOOODY KANGAROOOOOS!!!!!' Apparantly they're seen as pests over there!!) We had numerous trips out to see the local (stunning area), trips to Canberra, walks, talks, nice meals... All in all a LOVELY LOVELY time was had. I even got to go up in a 2-SEATER plane with Michael! AMAZING!! I could see myself getting the flying bug - Maybe I should learn to fly?!

After an amazing time in Cooma I headed to Canberra for one (hilarious drunkard) night with a friend there before getting the train (hungover to hell) back up to Sydney for a flight to Brisbane. Arrived at the airport to ABSOLUTE chaos. Thousands of people miling around, queuing, moaning, groaning... arghhhh this is not what I needed with an extremely sore head! After hours of queuing we eventually found out that the security equiptment wasn't working and all the flights were cancelled! So off I was shipped to a (luxurious - not!) Formula 1 hotel for the night before an early morning (5am wakeup) flight to BRISBANE BABY!

Finally arrived in Brissie to jump on a bus to NOOSA, where I visited a good friend I worked with last year in Morzine. Again only meant to spend a night or two in Noosa, but I loved it so much I ended up staying 6 days. Contarary to popular belief (or I believed before I came out) Australia isn't as hot as they suggest (Aus must have a really good PR team!!) Up until Noosa I'd had more than my fair share of rainy days, cloudy days and if I was really lucky a some-what sunny day. Noosa changed this - I had 6 days of beautiful hot hot hot hot sun!! YEEEES!!!! Beaches, bikinis, tanning, drinking, swimming, ice-creams, men wearing next to nothing YEEESSSS!!! (Sorry Steve!!) Had a great few days on the beach, wondering Hastings Street (the main street in Noosa) and a few fun nights out! Good times - Thanks Kylie!!

After Noosa.... (are you bored yet? This is an ESSAY of a blog....Maybe have a little break and a cup of tea and come back for part 2 in a mo?!!!) I headed to Hervey Bay, the 'gateway' to Fraser Island.

For 3+ months I hadn't once felt home-sick, but in Hervey Bay it hit me at full pelt and I had a couple of hard days being a total loner!! (Well done Rosie!) My two amazing friends at home were getting married in a few days and it suddenly hit me that I wouldn't be there to celebrate with them. (Update: They had a magical, perfect day and Sarah was the most beautiful bride I've ever seen - Charlie - you didn't scrub up too badly either!! haha) It didn't help that the weather in Hervey Bay was disgusting - rain rain rain rain rain - or that there's nothing to do there apart from the Fraser Island trip....!!! After a couple of days seriously missing home and moping waiting for the rain to clear I decided to skip Fraser Island (baaad weather forecast for days to come) and head up to the Whitsunday's for sunshine and sailing and happier times!!

This was the BEST decision I could have made. Airlie beach/Whitsundays was one of the most magical moments of my trip, though getting to Airlie beach is a NIGHTMARE... Over here the 'Greyhound' buses are extremely popular and they do this lovely thing called the 'Night Bus' (and no, unfortunately it's nothing like the night bus in Harry Potter - much to my disappointment.... Yes I am a geek!) 15 hours through the night, sitting in the most uncomfortable seat, next to a fat heffer munching packet after packet of chocolate biscuits for hoourrrrsss is NOT my idea of fun...But anyway eventually I made it to Airlie Beach.

Airlie beach is a STUNNING part of Australia - Beautiful town, beautiful lagoon (You can't swim in the sea because of jelly fish - or 'stingers' as they're known here.) - I just loved it. Plus, as an added bonus - I stayed in the nicest hostel ever! It was new, clean, spacious, tidy AND had a bath!! A bath?! A bloody bath?!! YES YES YES YESSSSSSS!!!! (My first bath in 3 1/2 months...mmmmm!!!!) I also met a couple of lovely lovely girls here who I ended up travelling with for the next couple of weeks which was great.

I booked on a Whitsunday's boat trip and off I toddled for my '2 night/3 day adventure!' The Whitsundays are stunning. I had the most fantastic time on the boat. We had a great group of people, great staff, great weather (can you sense I enjoyed this!! - Made a change from me being a miserable old moose!) The boat I went on was a 'Scuba Diving' boat but I hadn't intended on doing any diving - only snorkelling. I was eventually convinced to do a trial dive.... AND WOW GLAD I DID!! I ended up doing 3 dives and have TOTALLY got the diving bug!!!

Scuba diving is BRILLIANT!! The marine life is soooooo cool - coral, fish, clams, sharks (Yes I bloody saw a shark!! weeee!!!) - The ability to breath underwater and feel totally free is immense. It's calming and relaxing and fascinating and I totally loved it. This really made my boat trip for me - It was a fantastic few days with great people/food/diving/snorkelling.... Good times. So now I'd well and truly snapped out of my holiday blues (thank God!) and onwards and upwards on the adventure!!

After a couple of extra nights in Airlie Beach with my new travel buddies (good times) I headed on another over-night bus (oooo I just can't get enough of them!) to Cairns, which is one of my favourite places I've visited. Again in Cairns I only intended to stay two nights but extended my trip to a week, (and could have definately stayed longer.) Cairns is like a bigger/better version of Airlie beach. LOTS going on - adventure sports, sunshine (so much!!) water, good vibes, good people, The Great Barrier Reef... etc....etc.

Whilst here I booked on another boat trip. I'd loved my Whitsunday's trip and had got the diving/snorkelling bug BAD and wanted another fix! (haha I sound like a junky!!) Booked on a friend's boat (another friend I met on my season in Morzine) which turned out to be a great idea.

He kindly took me on the most magical scuba dive so far!!! It was breathtaking! Saw so many cool species of fish/wildlife/coral..... 'Nemo' fish, big fish, little fish (cardboard box)... Coral that changed colour when you touched it, slimy coral, hard coral, BIG clams that shut when you stroked the inside, sharks and coolest of all 9-10 Lion Fish in one spot (They're very rare!!!) It was absolutely amazing and further convinced me this is something I HAVE TO DO MORE OF!!!

(I am seriously considering trying to get a job on a boat. Apparantly it's pretty hard to do - but could be amazing to work at sea, get some more diving experience....etc....etc. It's definately something I'm thinking about.....ho humm.....)

Me and Cairns got on very well. I loved the weather, I loved the holiday atmosphere.... Everything just worked really well. Whilst here I spent $10 on a full body massage (fricking bargain - The best bargain I've had in the WHOLE of Aus - considering a bag of crisps is usually about $4!!) I spent a day at the AJ Hackett Bungy place with friends (drinking beer, watching them jump - then finally doing a bungy swing - wooooo!) I sunbathed, I shopped, I drank, I danced, I felt happy and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!!

On my last (boo) day in Cairns I hired a car with a friend and we did a long day driving around lots of waterfalls and creeks around the area. Stunning rainforests with brilliant wildlife (butterflies in rainbow colours, lizards, birds....etc.) Flora and fauna like I've never seen. Waterfalls you could swim in, jump off rocks, slide off rocks....just BRILLIANT fun and it topped my Cairns experience off perfectly....

So that pretty much brings me up to now.... I jumped on a flight to Brisbane which is where I am now (in the Museum of Modern art - piking their free internet!!) In Brisbane I plan to visit some further Apps relatives and another friend I met on my season.... After that heading back to Sydney to see the boy - and after that?? A JOB BECKONS I THINK!!!! Australia is freaking expensive and the pennies are well and truly gone! I am actually quite looking forward to settling down, making some money, getting to know some more people, an area, doing some artwork....etc.... So now my next big decision is where I live and what I do?!!

So that's it - The BIGGEST BLOG I'VE EVER WRITTEN on Rosie's Round the World Adventures. I am having a great time. Meeting new people, seeing new things and opening my eyes to what the world has to offer.... Travelling by myself for this last part has been a great experience.... It has been really hard at times, really rewarding at times, sad at times, happy at times and fun at times. But all in all, I'm so pleased I pushed myself to do it!!

Just to give everyone a quick update....I'm now on day 5 of my time in Noosa staying with a friend. I've had the most amazing time - Noosa's a beautiful part of Australia and it's helped that the weather's been truly amazing too! Tomorrow I'm going it alone up to Fraser Island. I'm pretty nervous to be off by myself, but fingers crossed! xx

Skip Skippedy Skip Skip....

Gosh I really have been pretty rubbish at updating this blog... I've been zig-zagging around and I've barely been on the internet, but now I've got a big chunk of time so can finally update it...

So as a quick update of my travels, I spent a week in Fiji, 6 weeks in NZ and I'm now on week 3 in Australia. I've been crap and haven't updated my South Island NZ travels, but figure I'll update you on my time in Australia instead, otherwise I'll forever be playing catchup....So here we go...

I'm now in a place called Warrimoo, in the Blue Mountains about an hour outside Sydney. I'm staying with my boyo who's been living here for 2 and a half months. It's a quaint little town right next to the Blue Mountains and it's quite different to the big cities I've been spending time in the last few weeks....

I arrived in Australia on the 12th March and landed in Melbourne.... Ended up spending 2 weeks in Melbourne - much longer than I'd anticipated - but it was such a great city. Our first night was a bit hairy - Landed at midnight with nowhere to stay.... Called hostel after hostel after hostel to no avail - Everywhere was full - 'No room at the inn....No room...No room...' Bugger. After blooming ages we finally found 3 separate beds and ended up trecking through the city in the middle of the night trying to find it... Thought I may end up sleeping on a park bench, but eventually arrived for a few hours shut eye - up early for Future Music Festival the next day!

Had a great day - I'd really missed live music so loved hearing band after band, DJ's, artists.... singing, dancing, fair bit of drinking, roller disco-ing, silent disco-ing and the like.... Fantastic day. My highlight was Dizzee Rascal. I've seen him so many times already - but he never disappoints and put on a bloody brilliant show. (Rosie was uber-fanning it up at the front singing along to everything, dancing like a loon - Keen bean.)

Spent a lot of time in Melbourne people watching and wondering the streets... (God I sound like a total bum!) Melbourne is a fantastic city to wonder around. The graffiti is out of this world. Street after street filled with art, doodles, stencils, big pieces, murals.... Amazing. I spent a lot of time borrowing friends cameras to take picture after picture after picture. Felt truly inspired and have done a fair

few doodles and drawings as a result....

It is also a city of amazing shops, bars, restaurants and cafes (and boasts some of the best coffees in the world - yum!) - So as you can imagine we became very good at mooching around.... mooch mooch mooch - graffiti - mooch coffee - mooch - beer - mooch..... etc....etc. We spent a few days staying in Chinatown - so a fair bit of Asian food was consumed as well... delicious.

Our first weekend we visited some of my friends family friends in a place called Queens Cliff. Had the most fantastic weekend being treated to some serious home comforts - A proper bed??? A hot shower??? Washing machines??? Home cooked food?? Blooming heck!! (I do realise I sound like I've been living in the outback with nothing to my name - but these home comforts really do make a difference!) Whilst here we spent a varied weekend out and about....

One evening we played boules.... (Yes the sport that is usually played by people over the age of 85....!!) Great fun though - and I WON!! Hidden talents? I think so! We also went to the beach, had a dinner party, went to craft markets, piers, shopping, sunbathing, delicious foods...etc - Just a great weekend with great people. (Thanks Michael and Janine!!)

The second week we spent in St. Kilda - the 'beach' town near Melbourne. Unfortunately whilst we were there the weather was pretty damn awful - so no beach time for us... However more mooch mooch mooching.... Shopping - mooch - bar - mooch - art - mooch - gallery - mooch. God I LOVE Melbourne. I also visited some friends who I used to work with who I'd not seen in about 3-4 years!! Great evening with good friends over food and wine - It was amazing how it felt like I'd just seen them yesterday...Lovely times. Also enjoyed several nights out, several hangovers, meeting new people...etc. etc.

On an aside, I have decided I am well and truly DONE with hostels. I'm aware this is rather premature as I have a fair bit of time left away and will need to use them again but I'm fed-up of purely meeting Europeans. Yes Europe is great. I love France, Germany, Switzerland and the like....I like Irish and Dutch and Hungarians... even Romanians, Spaniards and the like....However I did not travel to the other side of the world to purely meet Europeans! Hostels are FULL of only Europeans which do my nut in, and so my new mission is to meet. some. actual. aussi's!!

On our second weekend in Melbourne I put this new idea into practice. To meet Aussi's I have to think like an Aussi. What do Australians like amongst other things?! Beer and Football. So off I went to the MSG stadium to watch an AFL game.

God it was good fun and I thoroughly got into it - Screaming at the players, the ref, the opposing team... A kind Australian lady even lent me her binoculars so I could get a 'better look' at some of the players. Yum. Great fun!

The next day we met up with our Aussi friends (see the theme here!!) Michael and Janine to drive the Great Ocean Road. Brilliant times - It's a stunning drive and stunning part of the country that I'd highly recommend seeing.

Rugged coastline, amazing scenery, fantastic wildlife - Just truly amazing. Saw lots of sights along the way including the '12, (now 8) Apostles' the lighthouse from 'Round the Twist' (amazing) etc...etc. Topped my weekend off in true Australian style with surfing (I'm crap...) and fishing (equally crap - I caught a crab...)

After a fun couple of weeks in Melbourne we flew to Sydney where I met the boy.... And this is where I've been ever since. Have split my time between Sydney and Warrimoo and am thoroughly enjoying myself. Had a pretty spectacular day with the boy visiting the Sydney Opera House. His Great Uncle used to be Musical Director there years ago so we somehow wangled our way backstage to the Green Room to see a plaque dedicated to him...Very cool. We were then given a free tour around the Opera house backstage etc...etc, so this was all pretty shweet!

Sydney seems like another city I'm going to enjoy... Great sights, great beaches....etc. I'm thinking of staying here for a week or so before heading to see some family in Cooma.... Keen to see some more sights before I leave though and definately some more time in the Blue Mountains as this is meant to be truly spectacular so will update as and when I can....

Alongside Plan 'Meet.More.Aussis' I also plan to 'Update.Blog.More,' so let's see how they go....

So, that's my update so far - I'm having a great time, seeing some great sights and meeting some fab new people.... Keen to hear how everyone's doing at home. I look forward to speaking to some of you soon.... Until later skip..... x

P.S On a positive note I have finally (after a month of research and to-ing and fro-ing!!) bought a new camera. It's fantastic fun (with an awesome 21 x zoom - wooop!!) so prepare to be inundated with some new pictures soon.

I know, I know, I have been RUBBISH at updating this blog, and have still to write about the whole South Island.....tut tut tut Rosie.

Anyway am having a lovely time so far - The picture left is of me and a friend at the Future Festival Melbourne Roller-disco-ing! .... Melbourne is a great city - Very vibrant and exciting and the most amazing graffiti!!

North Island.....at LAST!!!

Bloody hell, how awful....I've yet to write barely anything about my time in NZ - and I've been here for pretty much a month.... Partially due to only being on the net for 10 minutes at a time, (I'm a cheapskate,) and partially due to moving somewhere new most days - keeping myself a busy old bee. Anyway, I'm going to attempt to write a little about what I've been up to.....or some of what I've been up to (otherwise we'd be here all day...inniiiit)

So, as you can all see from my previous post - I luckily wasn't in Christchurch when the earthquake struck. This was literally due to a last minute change of plan on our behalf, otherwise we would have been Christchurch bound. What a lucky last minute decision that was! It's truly hit home quite how fortunate we were by making a split second decision...I can't quite believe it and have been thinking a lot about the people in Christchurch. It's truly awful, absolute devastation and massive loss of life. I can't imagine the feeling of being in a quake and at the mercy of mother nature. Truly awful and my hearts go out to them.

Mother nature does some truly horrendous things, but boy has she conjured up some true beauty too. New Zealand has left me speechless on many an occassion. There are no days that I don't have a few ''WOW''s' a few ''Would you look at that??!!!'' a few ''blooming heck's'' etc etc.

So, we started in the North Island....I wont be able to cover my entire time away so far in this entry, but I'll pick a few highlights to write about..... We had originally only planned to do 2 weeks in the North, but there was quite simply too much to see and do, so we stretched this to 3 weeks (meaning we only have 3 weeks left in the South Island, which definately is not enough....)

So after Auckland, (finding a car, eating my body weight in sushi...etc...etc - see previous post) we headed further up North equipped with our lovely little blue bubble of a car and a ridiculously massive tent. There are 3 of us, but we thought it was a FANTASTIC idea to buy a 6 man tent. I'm not going to lie - It's a bloody palace! It's blooming massive. Quite hilariously so. There is room for us all to stand up, have a little wonder around, have a dinner party if we so wished - No exaggeration - IT IS HUGE!) We have had quite a few funny looks when we rock up at a campsite with this monster.... (jealous obvs!) But when we then get out our many over-sized luggage and bags they seem to understand a little better! (typical girls huh?!)

We initially headed to Paihia next to the Bay of Islands - A beautiful beautiful area which, as Wikepedia kindly tells me has the second bluest sky in the world, (after Rio De Janeiro).... Not bad not bad! We ended up spending 3 nights here - WOW What a luxury - 3 nights in the same place! Whilst here we luckily stumbled apon Waitangi and the yearly Waitangi Day (6th Februrary - where the 'much contested Treaty of Waitangi was signed between Maori chiefs and the British Crown, establishing British Sovereignity...etc....etc'' - Good old Wikepedia....) This is basically a massive Maori festival - Maori's, Maori food, Maori Haka (YES!!), Maori canoes on the river and Maori Tattoos.... - I quite literally have never seen so many FACIAL tattoos in my life - That really is a decision you can't reverse.... I got myself a little facial inking as I felt so inspired. (Mum, that's a joke obvs!! Can you imagine!) haha

We also spend a great day on a lovely sailing boat seeing the bay of islands, with our captain 'Gleno' (Quite possible the most NZ-ish name I could imagine?!!) This was brilliant fun... and I saw A BLOODY HAMMERHEAD SHARK!!! Check me out - I'll say it again A HAMMERHEAD SHARK!! WOOOOOOO!!!!!....How cool is that?! Plus penguins and dolphins. I never think of myself as much of a Dr Doolittle, but they were all brilliant!

My biggest disappointment of the North Island was 'Hot Water Beach' where apparantly if you dig a hole it fills with hot hot water (hence the name - funny that!) that you can bath in. Now, it might have been that we didn't bring spades with us, (slight disadvantage) or that we went at totally the wrong time of day - but NOTHING happened when we dug a little hole. Nothing. No hot water. No luke warm water even.... Pretty disappointing!

Well, this has been the only disappointment to my time in NZ, and it's pretty likely it's my own fault.... (Turns out we were 6 hours too late.....oops.) Whist in the North Island we also visited Corommandel Peninsula, Hamilton, Waitomo, Rotorua (stinks of egg - blooming sulphur), Taupo, Tongariro.....Oh man too many places to mention..... I could spend all day writing, but will have to just write about my top experiences....

We are staying in a mixture of Hostels, Campsites and DOC (Department of Conservation) Campsites.... The facilities range from amazing (hot showers, kitchens...etc) to very basic. Most of the DOC campsites have no showers/no toilets etc (if you're super lucky you get a long drop), water from streams....etc...etc. Now I quite like these campsites. Turns out I'm a bit of a tree-hugger at heart. The DOC campsites are often the most beautiful, idyllic and amazing - So peaceful and sobering. But it turns out my travelling companions are perhaps not such hippies at heart, and daily hot showers, hair straighteners and hair dryers are often calling them! (only joking girls!) Although I'd like to do more DOC campsites it'd be a lie if I said I didn't appreciate a good hostel hot shower with *gasp REAL BEDS?!!!

So, a run-down of some of my favourite places in the North Island (We've been to SO many it's quite likely I may have missed a few....)

- Waitomo Caves - We went 'Black Water Rafting' - BRILLIANT fun! Travelling through underground caves on big rubber rings - jumping of (little) waterfalls, topped off by massive caverns of glow-worms - Truly magical. This day was topped off by me leaving my bikini, my (only) towel AND my (only pair) of flip-flops on top of the car - and driving off, leaving me towel-less, bikini-less and shoeless. That really took quite some skill. GO ROSIE! (muppet!)

- Tongariro National Park - Where we did part of the Tongariro Crossing Walk. We very quickly realised we might have got our footwear choice (of flip-flops) ever so slightly wrong when EVERYONE striding past us was in FULL walking gear - boots, sticks, gaters, god-knows what else - but the whole kaboodle. We did get one or two comments about how impressed people were with how far we'd managed to walk in flip-flops. I was quite honestly impressed too!! Hours of walking in rocky terrain in FLIP FLOPS?! Now that's hardcore. (and stupid.)

- Napier - Is a STUNNING 1930's art deco town with a multitude of pastel coloured buildings and architecture. The town was mostly destroyed in an earthquake in 1931 (killing 258 people - NZ's last fatal earthquake before Christchurch :( ) The town was therefore fully rebuilt in the style of the day - So it's an art-deco lovers dream.... It's brilliant - Such beautiful colours and patterns and designs. I picked up some GREAT art inspiration.... Could very imagine myself living there!

and finally.....My last highlight was.....

- Wellington - Capital City of NZ - Now I finally understand why they call this the windy city. If I'm honest, our choice of attire - pretty Tea dresses - probably weren't quite appropriate. All I can say is a few people got glimpses of our derriere's they were not expecting (classy classy girls.) Anyway, moving swiftly onwards.... Wellington's split into 4 or so quarters - Lambton Quay, Courtenay Place, Willis Street and my FAVOURITE - Cuba Quarter. Cuba quarter is filled with urban art galleries, graffiti, little quirky bars, restaurants and gig venues. Amazing! I haven't taken so many geeky pictures of graffiti and got so excited in a long time!! (I LOVE a good bit of graffiti on the wall....y'know me!?)

Whilst in Wellington we spent a lot of time just mooching around, people watching (my favourite sport) eating copious amounts of sushi (shtandard) and just being. We also had a couple of nights out (BAD hangovers) with one of my friends friends from her previous travels! Good times. Also spent one evening in the magical Botanical Gardens watching a film on a big outdoor screen with many other New Zealanders eating picnics and relaxing....So so nice. We even enjoyed a real treat from home - WAGAMAMA'S baby. How cultural I'm being.

So, in a really shortened, cut down version that's my experience of the North Island. For risk of boring everyone to tears I'll save my South Island experiences to another post. I really truly and utterly enjoyed the North. It was absolutely beautiful and we were thoroughly blessed with beautiful weather and great experiences. I feel very lucky to be here and am having an absolutely fabulous time. I am also getting A LOT of art inspiration for my next series' of works....Maori designs, Art Deco, Colour....etc....etc....I am feeling pretty inspired and looking forward to getting some pens and paints a-flowing.....

Anyway, will write more soon... I'm going to find it pretty hard to leave NZ. I absolutely love it here.... Australia awaits me (and the joy of having to start working....my money is slipping away FAST)....If I'm honest though I'm quite looking forward to settling down a bit - Getting some doodling going, hopefully get some singing and music making happening too....Exciting.... Good times ahead....

Oh, and a quick update..... I am STILL being bitten alive..... It gets more exciting - The South Island is lucky enough to have the dreaded Sand Fly. EVERYWHERE, so now I've got a medley of bites. I really am attractive.....

Just to let everyone know I wasn't in Christchurch when the earthquake struck, so am safe and well. Thinking a lot about the people there - it seems to have devastated the town and there have been many fatalities and injuries. Everyone in NZ seems to know someone in Christchurch as so the effects are widespread. Understandably a subdued mood around the towns....
Will write another blog soon about my time in NZ, but for now, I wanted to let everyone know I'm ok..... :)

It would seem I am highly irresistible, tasty and delicious.....to MOSQUITOS!

In Fiji I was bitten so much people joked (I think!) that they'd like to take me with them on their travels to deter the mosquitos from them - to me. It would appear I'm like one of those sticky fly catchers. I quite literally attract them. Now I thought this was just a Fiji thing. Apparantly not. In NZ it's reached a whole new level. And the really attractive thing about all this? (Oh yes.) I seem to be allergic to bites. I currently have one bite that is quite literally taking over half my leg. I really am beautiful!! mmm....

Anyway, I'm now (and have been for 2 weeks) in NEW ZEALAND!!! Started in Auckland where I met two friends from home (Katherine and Vicki.) I was that total geek I'm sure everyone wants when they arrive, with a BIG sign with their names on! Emotional reunions...etc...etc.

Auckland is a beautiful, big city right by the harbour...(apparantly 1/3 NZ's population lives there.) Very busy and vibrant. Whilst we were here (3 nights) we spent the majority of time trying to sort out a rental car! (The plan being to drive our way around the country...) Now it turns out we should have, perhaps, booked a car before we left. It would appear that Auckland had a severe lack of vehicles (in our price range!)...So took a few days to sort this out.... (Whilst in Auckland also ate my body weight in Sushi, went on the harbour, few drinks...and whatnot.)

We eventually hired a car for 5 days to do part of the North Island, then a second car to do the rest of the North and South Island. On getting into the car we realised it was an automatic. I bloody love it!! It's like a bumper car or a quad bike.... This isn't real driving?!!! No gear changes?? No stalling? Clutch control??! I have been missing out!!! Great fun to drive. Also helped by the fact NZ roads are SO FUN TO DRIVE! Long winding roads, hills, straights, curves.... brilliant brilliant fun.

NZ is also gorgeous. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been.....

20 Days in.....

20 days in.... and I'm only just writing this. Slack Rosie, very slack! As you can see, or have heard - I arrived safe and sound and have been in Fiji and now in NZ about to look at some glow-worms in an underground cave... but I get ahead of myself....Back to the start...

London Heathrow 20.1.11....The flight was boring. VERY boring. Made somewhat more interesting by my neighbour on the flight who wanted to talk A LOT. I can tell you it's quite something to be tapped on the shoulder in the middle of a film to check I'm enjoying it and, would I mind, giving him a brief synopsis of the storyline. Wow. That was a long flight. Well, it was made better by the gin and tonics I was drinking... I swear the air pressure does something funny when drinking alcohol.... Fun times.

LA was a NIGHTMARE. I only transitted for 3 hours, but expected I've have time to drink Starbucks and eat over-sized food; Alas no. I spent the whole three hours queueing.... One and a half hours to get through customs, 30 minutes to get out of baggage reclaim... Then more queueing to re-check in, go through security, boarding...etc....etc blah blah blah. yawn.

Anyway eventually I arrived at my first destination FIJI BABY!!! Hit, as I got off the plane by a wall of heat. SO humid. SO hot - like wading through soupy air. I think I might have been somewhat overdressed - boots, jeans, t-shirt and hoody..... eeek! First stop was Octopus Resort on Waya Island. I was told this was one of the most luxurious islands on Fiji, so it was a bit of a shock to the system to be greeted with my first 'domitory' in a shack/bamboo hut, crammed with beds, with a cockroach on my bed. Yum.

For those of you who haven't been - Fiji is BEAUTIFUL. Travelling through boat to Waya island we passed numerous, stunning islands of varying sizes....Not unlike my picture on the previous post... Exactly like Castaway. Absolutely beautiful desert islands... Palm trees, white sandy beaches, totally picturesque and amazing....ahh. speechless.

I was only meant to be staying 2 days at Octopus Resort, but enjoyed it so much I extended my stay to 4 nights. Whilst here I enjoyed crab races, (hermit crabs 'tipexed' with different numbers racing along the beach - It wasn't uncommon a few days later to see a number 17 running along the beach. Very amusing,) bonfires on the beaches, even a Quiz night (anyone who knows me knows quizzes are not my forte. At the last pub quiz I completed I got 3 questions right.... out of 100!) Anyway, hmmm.... The island was beautiful. One of the more mountainous, hilly islands. One day I enjoyed a (hot) walk to the nearby village - The heat was incredible. I cannot say I was displaying a womanly 'glow', no this was sweat like I've never known. (Attractive Rosie.) I later found out Fiji was experiencing a massive heatwave. Phwoar. I wore factor 50 sunscreen the WHOLE time, (I previously thought no-one in their right mind used factor 50) but it turns out in Fijian heat - I CAN EVEN BURN IN THE SHADE!!!

Fijians have a traditional drinking ceromony of a plant called 'Kava'. In each place I went to they'd put on a Kava drinking ceromony - which they hold as being highly traditional, important and sacred. I therefore was excited to take part. Kava, in blunt terms tastes like swamp water. Muddy, brown swamp water. I'm not sure if it's a kind of in-joke to give to the tourists. It also numbs your mouth and is thoroughly unpleasant. After my first Kava initiation I tried to avoid this as much as possible without seeming rude....I still ended up having to drink three cupfuls of the stuff.... delicious.

After four days of relaxing, over-eating, sunning myself etc...etc. I moved to the Blue Lagoon Resort where I spent my last 3 nights. The landscape of Blue Lagoon was different still - Whiter sands, clearer seas..... If it was possible - even more beautiful!! Really enjoyed my time here - Again spent my days snorkelling, (amazing coral!) swimming, relaxing, eating, dancing on the bar, drinking etc....etc. Ah this is the life. Experience Fijian dancing, singing, church services, village trips, scuba diving. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I could spent hours writing about my time in Fiji...ah........ So after 8 beautiful days I moved on to NZ where I met up with two friends from home, Katherine and Vicki to begin the second part of my adventure.....

My internet is flashing telling me I have 6 minutes left. (Internet seems to be RIDICULOUSLY expensive in NZ. Actually everything is ridiculously expensive in NZ - 4 pounds for deodorant - keeping my 'glow' at bay.... 2 pounds for a cucumber....bloody hell.) So, I better dash, but will hopefully update my journey's soon....!
I miss everyone lots - but looking forward to lots more skype dates in the future..... That's all for now folks!! Until next time.....

Busy day today....Have a bit of a backlog of commissions, drawings and paintings....etc that I need to get on top of!! Started on a drawing for an anniversary print, plus it's the boy's birthday on Friday, so did him a little picture too.....

So.....Finished painting at the Metro Snow Show...

SO MUCH FRICKING FUN!!

I loved it. Proper LOVED painting, loved seeing the skiing/boarding, LOVED seeing some old Morzine faces, LOVED meeting some new faces....Just loved it...Brilliant couple of days. So here's a couple of pictures of the finished result.

Concept behind the piece - Combining old and new.... Wanted the woman to look old fashioned - Christmas jumper / Salopettes / Flock Wallpaper / Curly Writing.... But then be saying something totally outlandish and shocking....

I'm fairly pleased with the result....For my first mural think it went ok. I always think I could do better, and this is no different, but it's fairly cool.....

A lot of my work has a bit of a risque/naughty/rude side - and I wanted this to be no different....But I suddenly had a MASSIVE panick when I started writing the word 'p*ss'.
Now, I personally don't have a problem with the word.... To me, it's not a swear word and it's thoroughly unoffensive. However, when I started writing the letter 'P' I started to panic.... There were families and old people and children all walking past.... 'oh f*ck.....what am I doing?!....'

I even phoned my mum to ask if she found it offensive...I tried to think of alternatives 'pass? poss? ARGHHHH....
In the end decided to go for it but ***** out the 'i' to make it more passable for those easily offended!!! ha.... Did have a bit of a flutter when 4 security guards walked past staring at me.....eeek....Thought I may be chucked out,but thank god all ok.

Anyway, I think (hope) For Boarders By Boarders were fairly pleased....Would LOVE to do more painting with them in the future, so fingers crossed watch this space..... tum te tum....YAHHH!!!!

Metro Ski and Snowboard Show!!!

I'm painting at the Metro Ski and Snowboard show this weekend for For Boarders By Boards (FBBB).... VERY exciting....

Have just come back from my first day painting....7 hours painting! (sleepy!!) This piece is about 2 metres wide and 2 metres high...approx - My biggest painting yet....

Anyway thought I'd post a little picture of the work in progress...Still A LOT more to do, but here we are.... Background spray paint and stencil, woman acrylic and pen.....

Brilliant busy weekend.... Still SLEEPY from it though.... Friday night spent the night with my brother and familia (haven't spent any time all together in AGES!!!) Had the NICEST meal I've had in ages, (thanks Chris!!) and chatted and pottered about.....so lovely.

Saturday, headed down to Southampton for a gig with the band.... FUN gig for John Lewis - Lots of fairground rides and stalls (see left....) and gig was FUN.

Sunday night drawings....

Came back from working at the restaurant, exhausted, but felt raaather creative (standing on my feet all day serving people makes me CRAVE drawing and doodling instead....) I'm still continuing in the 50's 60's theme, as it's what I LOVE to draw at the moment...So here we go.

Apart from work (friday day, friday night, today day, today night... eeeek) I spent a lovely Saturday with my boyfriend and family, and chilled, watched films and ate (Mexican and Roast Dinner) Yum yum yum yum yum. Fatty. Lovely though....

Busy week coming up.... Seeing a friend tomorrow who's moving back to Australia this week (boo), working all day tuesday, seeing friends on Wednesday, working Thursday, Friday, gigging Saturday Sunday....PLUS I have several commissions I need to get to this week.... Busy busy..... x

Start first shift at the restaurant tomorrow....Fingers crossed it goes ok....Have spent hours trawling and browsing the internet for interesting odds and bobs, and check out this AMAZING chair....I want want want....A phonebox chair....!! Yes please.....

Can you see I'm obsessed with all London Icons...?? The Tube map, phone boxes, city lights, big ben....lalala...Great design. Need to incorporate bits more into my work as I really really love it....

Anyway off to sleep, busy day tomorrow, then gig on Saturday, and I'm still shifting off my DISGUSTING cold....I still sound a bit like a monster. Yes please.....

GET. THIS. BUG. OUT. OF ME!

Still feeling pretty awful and run down. Eughhhhhh.... Had a rehearsal with a new band last night and the croaky monster was back, so think I made a great impression (argh!!) Anyway whilst I'm recovering I've done two quick doodles of two of my friends..... pahahaha...

Had my car bashed in by some *#!?*@ at the weekend...Side panel dented in, massive scratch down the side...Really fuming... Run of bad luck at the moment, My jacket being stolen, the car getting scratched, getting a horrible disease that I can't shift.... They say bad things happen in threes, so think I'm about due something good happening... :-)

On a positive note I've got a job in a local restaurant - Trial shift on Friday. Not my dream career, but good to start getting some pennies in, and I can keep looking as well.... To be honest I don't mind waitressing, so should be alright...Saving saving saving....

Eugh....I have had a horrible horrible horrible cold ALL week and nothing I do shakes this stupid thing off.... Lemsip, honey lemon, gargling...blah blah bloody blah. GET IT OUT OF ME.

Had the worst gig this weekend because of this stupid bug.... Couldn't sing half the songs - croaky, crusty and awful. Big apologies to any listeners...I'm sure I sounded awful! Brilliant weekend at Bestival with the girls....Do you like my costume? Amazing fun, but sour end to the weekend when I lost (maybe stolen?) my beloved Barbour jacket.

Spent a weekend in East London, and at the Sunday Upmarket came across a BRILLIANT artist....I'm loving her stuff. Her name is Eleanor Jordan and her website is www.delicatemayhem.com .... A lot of her work features London icons - the tube map (love), telephone boxes, london buses.....It's intricate, beautiful and simply gorgeous. I am saving up pennies to buy some of her prints....Have a peek xx

Weeeehaaaaa.... Good old week.... Last weekend went to the Swindon Invincible... Great weekend. Rather messy.
My highlights...umm..... Beardyman, Zane Low, Beat Bullies and Scratch Perverts. Awesome weekend with great people..! I love watching live music. Nothing like it.

Lovely day today, went down to the beach....to the seaside yah! Maaaaaan I. LOVE. THE. SEA. It's so relaxing and chilled and beautiful...Lovely lovely lovely day. Then chilled out this eve. Tomorrow hitting the London markets and meeting up with some friends before a bit of a bop in the evening....Then monday NOTTING HILL.....I've been every year for years and I love it. Get me some rice and pea.....

Job interview next week.... Thought it was about time I got a 'proper' job....well for a little while anyway - to fund further travels!!! x

This blog annoys me. I have just written this post TWICE and SOMEHOW I manage to delete them. ARGHHHHH!!!

Third time lucky - Today has been a GOOD day. Have just been donated a wakeboard by a friend to doodle and paint on.This excites me quite a lot. Probably more than it should.... It's sitting in front of me now and I'm super tempted to get the sharpie out and start scribbling away. Have to hold myself back....I want to do this properly.... Not sure how to go about it - Paint directly on? Prime and paint?? Print a skin?? Who knows....Need to research this a little bit... but I have lots of ideas flowing around my head....weeeee....i. cant. wait.

I've also been offered a snowboard by another friend to go to town on.... SUPER EXCITING....now all I need is a skateboard..... If they turn out well I'll post pictures....

On another note - My second collection of T-shirts is being ordered today - (sneaky preview image)...To be on sale in approx 2 weeks. There's been a bit of a delay (editing, blah blah) but now it's finally happening. Chemical Records (http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/) have ordered a couple of the designs, which is shweet so will post a link when they're on sale.

Exciting news this week, which I can now share....
I was recently commissioned by MTV to transform their London meeting rooms, so I've done 5 BIG logo doodles, each representing one of the channels, which are displayed in light boxes in each of the rooms. VERY EXCITING....!
Going up tomorrow to take some pictures, so will hopefully be allowed to post one on here...

Weekend gigging - Friday and Saturday night...Both weddings. Really enjoyed the gigs. It was the first time we did a live gig recording and it was rather a shock to hear back. I've obviously heard myself sing before, but you always think you sound different to how you do!! Funny. Sunday went up to see the boyo and had a lovely chilled day with lots of films and lots of food (roast dinner yum.) Anyway back today and I've done a couple of self portrait pencil drawings...Take a peek ... xx
